Rash of Bad Ads

There are a rash of bad ads going around right now. These ads are attempting to use a vulnerability found in Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you use Adobe Acrobat Reader, we strongly recommend that you use the link above to go to Adobe's site and get their security update.

That only reader and not full? Guess it really doesn't matter here since I don't run PDFs in my browser, but still curious.

Does this just affect Adobe's Reader? I don't use that bloated piece of trash, instead I use FoxIt. However I will check FoxIt's site just in case this affects their PDF reader too.

Tanks for the heads up. The other day I had a pop up saying that Adobe Reader was going to update. It put up the EULA and asked to Accept/Decline.

Guess it's a good thing I declined and forced the window to close.

Hmm .. seems it only affects Adobe Reader 8 and Acrobat 8 .. I have Reader 9 installed. Still strange I got that pop up though seeing how I have Auto Update turned off.

Need people to report them to us when they see them, Mera. As we've stated time and again, ads tend to be geo-targetted, so you may see some that I don't, I see ones that Dolby doesn't, etc, etc, etc. As always, posting about it in the site help forum with as many details as you can provide (where you live, where you saw it on the site {top banner, side ad, etc}, what the ad was, where it takes you, etc) makes it so we know about them and can get after our ad rotation provider to get it removed.

I've been refreshing over and over clearing cache/cookies and have yet to see any gold ad ever. So if you could provide a picture and the country/city your located in I would appreciate it. If you run firebug and can get the address the ad is being served from even better.
