Rob's guide

If you already look at omgphatloots.org often you've already seen this, but if you don't you need to read it.

Rob is writing this three part guide on making a good UI.

Part one
Part two
Part three

The guide has some does have really good points. The whole guide (so far) is good. Read it.

Yah, I have been reading it and following the idea he puts forth as I design and build my new UI. Lots of good points to it.

1. If you are using the default unit frames, GTFO. I don’t care how amazingly awesome the rest of your UI is…you’ve failed. It’s game over man, game over.
Wow talk about a big ego. This is why I try to stay the hell away from bloggs as the people writing them tend to have their head stuck so far up their own blogg that they seem to believe their view is final and to a certain extent that other people's view's are lesser than their own.
Reminds me of the self righteous spouting's from total biscuit.

There was pretty much nothing worthwhile in those two pages. A lot of fluff with him trying to be funny, but very little about actually making a successful UI. And his attitude sucks. I fully agree that a large majority of the UIs out there are scattered messes with no visual appeal whatsoever. But he's not helping anything by acting like he's the authority on UI design.

Ego about something that's entirely user-specific opinion. Sweet.

If there was ever any wonder if the people that play WoW are different (read: more immature) than people that played EQ back in the day, see these posts.

There is no "best UI," or whatever. There is only what's best for YOU. Please people, don't read this crap. Do what you want with your interface. Anyone that judges you is wrong.
