How to find WoW Sound files

I was wondering if there was a program that allows me to hear the WoW Sound files, much like XnView does for images. I wanted to add the ability to play sound files at certain times in my Tol Barad timer, perhaps like a bell at 5 minutes left type of thing.

Thanks!

Hi Waky,

If you download Ladik’s MPQ Viewer you can browse through all of the sound files in the game’s Data/Sound.MPQ archive (it’s kind of like Blizzard’s special version of a ZIP file) and play them like regular sound files. They’re all in WAV, OGG, or MP3 format. You can also look in the Data/expansion*.MPQ and Data/wow-update-*.MPQ archives for sounds added in expansions or patches.

To play a sound in the game, type:

Code:
/run PlaySoundFile( [[Sound\Creature\FlameLeviathan\UR_Leviathan_Aggro01]] )
Or put it in an addon without the “/run” part.

If you don’t want to browse the MPQ files, you could also look at the list of commands for every sound posted on this site.
