MMO-Champion not loading

Ever since MMO-Champion went down for a 2-hour maintenance during a server upgrade last Friday, I can't connect to it anymore while others tell me they can. I did a DNS flush (dscacheutil -flushcache, on mac) but it still doesn't work. I get a 502 bad gateway error.

Anyone have any ideas what I can do?

You can try a free proxy on the net.

Try deleting mmoc's cookies - worked like a charm for me.

I already removed the cookies before I flushed the DNS, don't get anymore because I can't access the site.

And I'd rather not try a proxy.. sure there's some other way?

As soon as your ISP updates it's DNS, you will be able to see the site. They just changed servers, so they had to issue new nameservers for their domain name.... domain name registrars need to all catch up.

Try this in the terminal :

nslookup www.mmo-champion.com

This will tell you what address it resolves to.

You can also use this to check if another DNS server will give you the right IP address

EG nslookup www.mmo-champion.com 8.8.8.8 To check it with Google's Open DNS.

nslookup www.mmo-champion.com 208.67.222.222 To check with Open DNS

On mine it's working fine to IP 68.64.47.203 for mmo-champion.com and www.mmo-champion.com

Your ISP's DNS possibly has a stale record >_>

It gives 209.251.184.232 Out of date indeed.

Then use either 8.8.8.8 or 208.67.222.222 as alternative DNS servers until then. They both have the correct IP address on them.

I would ask you post the SOA entry from nslookup but I'm none to clear how to read those to figure out when the DNS record would expire.

There's strengths and weaknesses to using Open DNS or any Open DNS. The advantages are they are often faster and can be set up to protect you against malicious attacks as well as black listing spammer IP addressed.

The disadvantage would be they often don't take into account localized caching servers your ISP's DNS grants you access to. For example over here in NZ several ISP have caching servers for youtube. When using Open DNS youtube IP's resolve to servers based in the US and not NZ.

Right, I think I will stick with 8.8.8.8 and check back every now and then to see if my ISP has updated it yet. Thanks ^^
