hello i wondered is notepad++ free to use? also where to get it safe? thanks a bunch just want to be total sure of things.

yeah, certain things (fancy global contextual substitutions for instance) can only be done with Vim (as far as i know, anyway; good old vi, my first text editor).

as well, a tip: i had to rename the "notepad++.exe" file in the most recent version to "npp.exe" before i could pick it in windows vista via the "open with" contextual dialog for files.

just wish notepad++ was available on mac. I once wrote the entire flexbar language file out in notepad++. It came in soooo handy.

I use to be a Notepad ++ fan, but found Prolix and like it much bettah.

Didn't want to hijack thread but since the OP is happy, I'll post.

I have tried smultron, editra, textwrangler, jedit. Currently using textwrangler till I have enough money to buy textmate. (broke college student)
Still nothing compares to notepad++ I miss it terribly.
