Gold-colored ring on carb map

I can't help but notice that in some zones, a gold-colored ring appears around the arrow representing the character. I figure it's supposed to represent what you're able to detect, but is there a way to remove it?

Are you using NPC_Scan? If so this is the most likely cause.

Yes i am, but why is it only showing in certain zones then?

Because it only shows up in zones with rare spawns.
