Searing Gorge :: ATI VPU issue

Anyone know if this has been resolved yet?

I really want to get in with the Thorium Bros. but crashing is making it extremely difficult.

What's the issue? My ATi doesn't seem to care when I go into Searing Gorge.

It hasn't done it much lately. It's weird some days its f'n stupid and crashes every 10 secs, other days it's fine and I can mount and ride all over.

Th issue is that with ATI cards and searing gorge the system hangs then an "ATI 'VPU Recovery' error" pops up. You can still kinda play but if it crashes like that more than 3 times you have to reboot. Tons of people are having this problem. Do a google search for "Searing Gorge ATI VPU Recovery crash".

I hope they have it figured out and the bug squashed by 1.9.

Same thing happens to both mine and my g/f's computer - hard lockups in the searing gorge, causing VPU recover to kick in and return control. We're both running ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB cards.

According to Blizz, a fix is scheduled but no idea when. They are aware of the issue tho, and a current workaround is to use 5.1 Catalyst, or some Omega 3rd party drivers. See http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...t=494456&tmp=1
