So, I know I JUST posted a new UI, but I'm a crazy person. I'm trying out a new unitframe design, lemme know what you think!

EDIT: I dunno why the boss looks 'broken' in the 2nd pic... quite strange, honestly o_O
EDIT #2: I fixed the very slight mis-alignment on the Player UF's text... they were 1px too low xD

Is 16bit really necessary?

I think that's how his computer runs WoW, iirc from a previous post, he's running on quite an old computer?

I think it gives a pretty cool effect to be honest.

16bit is not faster. every graphic card uses 32bit internally.

It's not 16bit, it's still 32bit. I just use Leatrix GFX, which reduces the graphics further than the Blizz options will go (to support my crappy video card). In motion, you don't really notice the difference. When you take a screenshot, however, it looks fairly awful =/

EDIT: It's not that my computer is old, it's just that the integrated video card sucks. Blech.

I'm not so much of a fan of the single color unit frames. I like class colors when they're full, and not the opposite. But that's just me.

I always find that graphics with rounded corners are better when standalone and larger - ie not lots of small buttons together, like an action bar.

But as always this is just personal preference.

Noted. I prefer rounded edges so the UI doesn't look like one giant bar, but after reading your comment, I increased the padding, and it did look better. Thank you.

So after spending so much time playing in Beta and Live, I've decided to rebuild my UI... again. I've got the basic functions I really like. Its just making them fit within the theme now.

I've really fallen for the steampunk graphics blizzard like to use for their vehicles/maps/goblin buildings. So thats the basic theme. Just slight color adjustments. Instead of the browns and yellows and creams its more grey, black, and white.

So far I have a few of the graphics worked out and the player and target frames... except the background. Pic is a working model for the Player frame. I still need to finish the skin for the buttons and buffs so thats not showing yet. The faded black background isn't finalized yet either. Everything within the frame needs to be connected, which is what the background will be doing.

Interesting idea. Please share pics when you're finished!

haha Nice... and actually one of them is actually giving me some inspiration for the castbars, which are looking a lil boring.

And this is so far a big change from what I've been using. I've been very minimal for a long time. Though I've built graphic compilations for friends, I've kept going back to just basics. So fun looking though.

Here's a rough layout of what I am working on...

Thoughts?

I am aware that there are some alignment issues... Still getting the basic design laid out before I worry about the little things.

You might just throw this out as personal preference but your whole UI is sitting on the prime visual real estate of your screen. You can't see your feet or what's coming up behind you, etc. I guess if it works for you, it works for you, but most people who block out that part of their screen block out the whole bottom part of their screen with a viewport so that they can still see that area.

I was actually going to say something similar. Its very heavy and large not to be a viewport. Looking pretty organized though. I was suprised looking over the screenshot to find the unit frames up above that block. I was wondering where they were for a few seconds.
Even if you pulled the chat window to the left and the recount window to the right, you still are blocking part of the screen in the middle.

I might suggest some fading there or scaling things down.

I would suggest doing something with the action bar. The gryphon looks very out of place with all the tech looking art. As does the dark art in the corner.
