it wouldnt of downloaded on its own? whats current ptr version? i have this same problem of the busy server.

If your running vista does the install need to be in the public directory like normal wow? or the prog..filesx86 directory like it did on its own?

Heh, the question was to Ushas. It may be that he hasn't patched yet, thus the smaller size.

well my states are the same to. Maybe the install location is the issue? since it did not go to the public folder like normal wow does?

Mine is 35.7GB (I rounded it up to 36GB).

I have today's patch, yes. Version: 4.0.0.12479

enGB version so I'd imagine the 0.1 extra GB in size is due to the slight language file differences.

Cralor has 37.8 GB though so I'd imagine he must be using a non-English language variant. Otherwise that's really weird.

I'm fully patched, DNS Cache cleared, deleted Firewall exceptions and re-added them again, reset modem etcetera and still having the same login server busy error message.

the login server busy thing is NO client issue.

i had someone with working beta account (blizz-picked) try my username + random password (should open authenticator box then) - "login server busy"...

its account related.

Regarding file size discrepancies, keep in mind that the patcher stores all patch install executables in the root folder. Perhaps one client started at a later version than another, thus having less patch installers.

Depending on your setup, this might not be the case. Installing on Vista/7 will recommend and default to the public folder, but won't enforce it.

Hmm, I ran the installer and let the installer install where it wanted .. Program Files was where it installed it to instead of the usual Users\Public\Games folder.

Oh Blizz is fully aware. Apparently, people have been screaming about this since Monday. Tons of threads.. one on the Cata forum, one on the Beta forum, one on the US Tech support forum, one on the US Customer Service forum, and a few over on the EU forums.

Not a single reply from Blizz in any of those threads that acknowledge they are working on it. Not one.

Perhaps I was only right in regard to the final game, then. I recently installed (a freshly downloaded) copy and, after selecting program files, was prompted something about it not being a great idea. Alternatively, my memory may be playing tricks on me.

Ok so some pretty dirty fixes.

I just managed to copy a character to the Cataclysm Test Server on Europe.

I'm also getting the "Login busy" message. According to this http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...sid=1&pageNo=1 it is an error with accounts that have ran out some for some time.

I stopped playing WoW because of exams aswell.

What helped myself was
Code:
If you all were to go to this location and delete all of the files inside, can you log on?

Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Blizzard Entertainment

Windows Vista and 7:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Blizzard Entertainment\

Application Data and AppData may be hidden so just type the folder name (or just copy/paste the whole thing) to your Explorer address bar to get there.
I basically deleted every blizzard entertainment and battle.net cache I found.
Reboot your system and try the character copy on battle.net again.

Mine worked after that (Finally).

Maybe the other bug can be fixed like this aswell. Currently no solution for the login bug.
