Anyone notice map icons?

I noticed yesterday that the most recent herbs and ores i've collected are showing when I open the Map. Anyone know why? Has blizzard added something? I have used gatherer for a long while, but currently it's not 2.0 ready. I don't remember installing the alpha of gatherer so is there any other explanation?

Do you have any other map mods ... like cartographer, mapnotes etc?

Also is gatherer listed in your addons on your character select screen?

MetaMap has added this feature in the latest versions. That is how I got them showing up.
