[Edit] Word is, they won't be enabled till a "few weeks" before release.

I'm guessing they will enable addons, shortly after the final zones are tested and people start to hit 85. Currently Twilight Highlands and Uldum are NYI and they probably want people to test that stuff with the default, due to possible issues with vehicles and other quest related UI stuff. When exactly those zones will unlock is anyone's guess.

Of course this is just my theory, for all I know they could enable them at any time. It wouldn't be too surprising if they were enabled soon, since a lot of addon sites have been given keys to hand out.

If that is so the case, why are people whining for keys? sure I'd like to play the new content but #1 priority in beta in my opinion is to dip into the new API features. So Cairenn, take your time and buy another Ferrari

A thought: Perhaps they've stopped passing out beta keys until the new launcher hits? So as to avoid annoying an extra group of people who would have to re-download the client (not to mention any additional bandwidth costs).

Most likely that, besides they've been quite busy the last few days with the guild contest, they've chosen 500 winners and each winner gets 10 beta keys to share with their guild mates, that's 5000 new players in the beta.

It's just a matter of time until WowI gets another batch of keys and hopefully blizzard will enable addons near that time
