For the record, the question has been asked on the forums and people were told to direct their questions to [email protected]. I didn't e-mail them myself, but assuming the e-mail was directed to the proper channels how would it slow the process down? Are their PR people in charge of sending out beta keys? That would be... odd.

Not trying to argue, I understand your feelings about people's impatience, but your comments seem a bit misdirected to me.

XD Very nice. And certainly true, although I think the beta lasting clear through November is debatable until the release date is actually announced.

No one here has said that you are supposed to email Blizz. Opt-in keys, WWI, BlizzCon, etc aren't the same. One would think that you would check with the people you applied with. Those keys, you applied direct to Blizz. These ones, you applied with us. Doesn't it make sense to ask us first?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Someone on the OFFICIAL forums asked specifically about the WoWInterface and Curse beta keys. A customer service rep (I believe it was Belfaire) said to direct questions about them to [email protected].

And I'm not saying I disagree with you necessarily, but given that Blizzard has said to ask them through a specific channel, I don't see it as a bad thing to use that channel, nor do I think it slows the process as you said (in my opinion, for all I know their PR department DOES send out the beta keys), so I spoke up because I felt that particular sarcastic jibe was undeserved.

Yep, they narrowed it down to Q4 '08. I think several people tried to figure the release date assuming the time frame from alpha start to release holds true and they pegged it as sometime in October. Guess we'll see if that holds true or if the beta has to go on longer than the last one did. Either way I'm looking forward to it.

It's a Tuesday, it's within the right time frame, and I think they want to get a jump on the Christmas season.

Guess what, it wasn't the end of the world!

There was some weirdness with the first batch and the keys had to be sent twice, as I recall, but mine didn't come either time. Which was fine, I was just happy that Cairenn/WoWI did everything they could to help us out.

Oh, and I ended up in the beta anyway. Moral of the story: patience + positive outlook goes far! Luck helps, too.

I'm willing to bet on a February release, same as TBC. For some obscure reason, Blizzard has a thing for that specific month.

I think Blizzard is planning for a November/Early December release. BUT Blizzard is one of the few companies that doesn't need to care about Christmas. WotLK will sell regardless when it will be released. If there are complications during the beta Blizzard will not hesitate to postpone the release to 2009.
