Splitail --

~lol~ Love the name... brings back memories of my childhood and terrible jokes my step-dad would tell... but we'll not go there ~smile~

For now, the only way to remove the debuffs would be to edit the skins for the unit frames. In a 25 man, you are correct that buffs can get out of control. That said, nUI's (de)buff bars are completely configurable, you just have to do it by hand until I can get a GUI layout tool built.

The files that those (de)buff bars belong to are the nUI\Units\Skins files and/or nUI\HUD\Skins. They contain all of the layout information for nUI's unit frames and once you look at the file names, it should be readily apparent which files are which unit frames.

In the files you will find all of the layout and option data for the unit frame it belongs to including location, size, spacing, cooldowns, etc. Editing them should be fairly self explanatory and feel free to holler if you have questions.

The caveat is that until I get skinning fully supported, when you make changes, the next update will overwrite them, so you'll have to re-edit whick kind of sucks. But I promise I will be addressing this as soon as possible.

After using nUI in OS25 last night, I noticed that the buffs/debuffs are taking over a majority of my screen! Tenebron had so many debuffs on him that it took up the whole right side of my screen. My own buffs took over the left side, lol! I did a search for the possibility of turning off the buff/debuff icons, because I dearly want to just use Elkano's Buffbars. I found this post (above) but did not see a way to actually disable to icons so I don't see them Then I saw something about movers, can this option be used to drag around WHERE the buffs are displaying? I also need to adjust the padding between the debuff icons because they are spread out with what looks like .25" between icons.

I really like the way I can customize Elkanos buffbars and place them (drag and drop) where I want. And honestly this is my only beef with nUI so far, is that I hate the buff/debuff icons.

Thanks for giving this modjunkie a great way to get her fix

What's really funny about the name Splitail is that my hunter (named Splitail of course) used to be male A girl playing a male blood elf named Splitail Now Split is a proper female toon, gender identity crisis over

As far as editing any files, I think I would rather chew my own arm off than mess with them as I haven't the foggiest about how to do it If I messed with them more than likely the world would stop spinning on it's axis and kittens would die all around the world

I still might take a look at them when I get home, but I don't think I am brave enough to fiddle with the files.

Some things are best left to the pros imo So I suppose I can deal with it. My other option is to go back to spartanui and check back for updates for nUI periodically to see if you get around to getting a GUI tool built up.

I dun wanna go back to spartan tho

I'm pretty certain that you'll "get it" as soon as you look at the files. There's no "code" per se in the file, just data... true/false, x/y coordinates, etc.

But please be gentle with the kittens... we can't be tearing any holes in the fabric of the universe or anything like that.

roofles!

Gawd, why do I have to be at work. All I want to do is fiddle with files now.

Also, looking at the different skins, and all I can envision is a HELLO KITTY version. It must be done FOR GREAT JUSTICE!

I'm thinking a space-invaders skin... but we can do kittens if you really must.

Just want to let youknow that the pet feeder button is still not working for me with 4.11 installed. Enclosed a pic where I recognized a "little" mistranslation:
<Klicken um moon zu essen> means "click to eat moon" ... my beloved kitty . It should sound <Klicken um Moon zu füttern>. Where "füttern" means to feed.

Greetings Wavebow

Oh my, clicking to eat Moon would be bad

This pet feed button, am I missing it? All I do when my pet starts yammering about being unhappy (Vajayjay is unhappy--time to feed, LOL) is right click the little unhappy face on his portrait and a small menubar pops out with food choices, then I right click one. I also have a macro I can hit that feeds her whatever I have listed or heals when in combat

/cast [pet, nocombat] Feed Pet; [combat] Mend Pet
/use [pet:Cat/Ravager, nocombat] <food item>;[pet:Wind Serpent, nocombat] <food item>

where you change pet type to whatever pet type you have and food to whatever food they like to eat :shrug:

I don't think I have seen an actual feed pet button

Wavebow is talking about the same thing... the pet happiness indicator in the unit frame you click when your pet starts whining about there being no fresh kittens to eat... for some reason that button isn't working when the player is using the German localization file.

Hey there Splitail, I have done away with the Buffs and debuffs display in nUI and use Elkano's BuffBars. I kept the HUD ones though. They are quite handy when you get used to them.

To remove the built in Auras in nUI first open C:\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\nUI\Units\Skins\Solo\nUI_UnitSkin_SoloPlayer.lua

To remove the debuff display for yourself
On line 614 or so under ["Aura"] you'll find this:
Code:
options =
				{
					enabled = true,
Just change to:
Code:
options =
				{
					enabled = false,

Scroll down to line 671 and do the same for buffs.
Close and save the file.

I also removed the display for Auras on my target. To do that open C:\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\nUI\Units\Skins\Solo\nUI_UnitSkin_SoloTarget.lua

On line 629 find
Code:
enabled = true,
Change to
Code:
enabled = false,

On line 688 find
Code:
enabled          = true,
Change to
Code:
enabled          = false,
Save and close the file.

That's all there is to it. When in solo mode you will no longer have the annoying buffs cluttering up the screen.
It's easy as pie to do the same for the Party and 10-man frames. Just edit C:\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\nUI\Units\Skins\Party\nUI_UnitSkin_PartyPlayer.lua and nUI_UnitSkin_PartyTarget.lua for the Party frames and C:\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\nUI\Units\Skins\Raid10\nUI_UnitSkin_Raid10Player.lua and nUI_UnitSkin_Raid10Target.lua for the 10-man frames with the same changes as above.

The only downside is that every time there is an update you will have to make all the changes again. Small price to pay for this kickass UI though.

You can just as easily modify the size, spacing and orientation of the buff bars to match what you "like" about the ones yo have in Elkano's BuffBars.

BTW: I just went and had a look at Elkano's BuffBars to see what the fuss was and I had to laugh... the screenshot they show was what I offered the first time I suggested the unit frames for Beta 2 and everyone screamed about how they didn't like those kind of buff bars. Anyway, it is worth noting that you CAN produce buff bars in nUI that pretty much exactly match what is being offered in the Elkano's screen shot. I'll see if I can throw together a plugin for nUI to reproduce that so you guys (and kitten killing women) can have that style of buff bar without having to keep re-editing nUI's config.

Hud Skins

How hard would it be to integrate skins into the hud of Nui?

I like the look of the different skins in icehud.

i understand it will need to be added to the gui so its not a big deal, but is very appealing for personalization of the ui.

heh heh. It is indeed easy to code. Unfortunately I am VERY lazy and just disabling nUI's and dropping in Elks is more my speed.

And on a side note you'll notice I am NOT screaming and throwing a fuss.

Thanks for looking into adding something like this in. This is not a game breaking issue by any means. The way you set this system up makes it super easy to move/change/tweak things to peoples liking.

One More Vehicle Glitch

Scott,
I had an odd glitch today. Here is the ingame Scenario:

In Icecrown I was doing a lowlevel quest where you mount this worm and kill a giant colossi.

The Vehicle panel appears (and is it ever annoying) as per usual, but I can deal with it for the quest.

So I miss out on the little trick first time around and End up dying (surprised?)...

Here is where the glitch happened. On my Deathknight I have Shadow Of Death so I come back as a ghoul for a short time after death, with limited abilities in a petbar.

Since I wiped while mounted, the vehicle panel disappeared but the Large Icons did not, they changed from the vehicle controls to the "pet abilities".

Since Im working nights I was only logged on to do a daily (for my "A simple request" Achievement) so I didnt try to reproduce it.

Notable circumstances: I was playing on a friends machine (drool 30" Widescreen LCD quad Core 2t drive 4gb ram........ *drool*) running SuSE. I had compiled wine and installed WoW on it a few weeks ago and everything worked fine with nUI / Environment at that time. I didnt have any other issues, it was probably related to the unique circumstances (DK going into SoD on Force vehicle leave) moreso than anything else.

Just thought the community could benifit from this post incase anyone else experiences similar.

You're talking about the large buttons in the vehicle frame itself, right? The vehicle frame went away, but they didn't, correct? What about the buttons in nUI's action bar, did they update correctly?

I have seen this happen before myself and I'll note the same thing I've said before... nUI is doing *nothing* to or with the Bliz vehicle frame, so that problem is actually Bliz making the vehicle frame itself transparent without removing it. It almost acts like there's a taint issue of some kind which, I suppose, could be related to nUI, but I haven't seen it.

I'll try to do some testing and see if I can reproduce it. If you happen to have a clean taint log as a result, I could look in it and see if nUI tainted you, but I'm going to guess you don't have taint logging turned on.
