There is a good deal of information about it on wowwiki. I think it can only be used while in the dungeon though if I am recalling the correct info.

Ashbringer was definitely cool. But yeah, it's been known for quite some time and there is even a website dedicated to it that's been around for a year or two now.

I think you're thinking of Andonisus, Reaper of Souls, which can only be used inside Stratholme during the fight against Atiesh.

The Corrupted Ashbringer drops in Naxx off the Four Horseman, and starts an interesting quest. The normal Ashbringer currently can be seen on GMs however it is not available to players. The devs have said that they want to go back and actually put this weapon in the game, however I would suspect this will not be a while as they have a lot on their plate right now.

I want THE sword of a thousand truths from south park (same stats,everything). Instant mana burn=pwnage.
