Minion Patch 2.3.1 / 2.2.1 Released

I just released two patches for Minion, which you should be able to automatically retrieve via the Minion client. It should ask you to install the core first, then the wowi module afterwards.

Please note the wowi module will require that your configuration be deleted. This is to remove any incorrect links from addons to wowi which may be in your configuration file. Sorry for the inconvenience

What this addresses
  • Mac OS X users should now be able to open the "More Info" dialog (Bug ID #94)
  • Addon heuristics should be drastically improved in the situation where the item is not available on WoWI. In particular, Minion shouldn't be installing addons randomly anymore. (Bug ID #109)
  • Users with temporary directories outside of the default ones should no longer be blocked by the security manager. (Bug ID #99)
  • A method for auto-updated modules now exists to request a configuration deletion. (Feature ID #141, blocked #109)
  • Users with case-sensitive file systems should now have WoW correctly detected. (Bug ID #46)
  • The "Forced Update" concept is removed. This occurred in special situations, overriding the fact that Minion knew they were the same, downloading the file to get extra information. This information is now supplied directly by the server instead.

Significant Known Issues
  • Auctioneer et. al are still having its folders compete with one another over updating. This will likely spew off "Cannot delete" errors or other similar problems. It also may be linked to WoWI incorrectly.

What I need feedback on
  • Is Minion still installing random folders?
  • Is Minion cutting update support from addons you know are on wowi?
  • Is automatic syncing (rather than download-syncing) more frequent?
  • Other random problems

Thanks for any feedback! As always, please be sure to backup your interface directory.

I updated Minion and got this error after it asked me to restart to update the core -

Finding MMOUI Manager...
*** Error While Updating
java.io.FileNotFoundException: minion.jar
mmoiautoupdate.UpdateStatusFrame.main(UpdateStatusFrame.java:202)
I was launching Minion from a shortcut on my desktop. However, when I went directly to the Minion program folder and launched it, the update worked fine.

Edit: Hmm, I fail at providing info - I am using Vista 64 bit.

Edit 2: I also fail at seeing other threads on the subject lol

BTW, many thanks for working on Minion!

I got the same error (On Windows 7 64-bit build RC1 (7100)).
Went to the folder as Maul did and it updated fine... bizarre.

Twice now minion has installed healbot and titan healbot. And I think I know why, for me at least.
Seems to only install if I update sharedmedia.

OS is windows XP pro SP3.

*** Error While Updating
java.io.FileNotFoundException: minion.jar
mmoiautoupdate.UpdateStatusFrame.main(UpdateStatusFrame.java:202)

Same error on:
Windows Vista Home Premium
SP1

However when I only get the error when I click on the Update Core. Clicking on the module for MMOUI manager let me update that without any errors.

Same error as above on Windows 7 32 bit Build 7100. Also works if executing directly instead of using the shortcut.

The reason this error noted above seems to occur is due to the fact that the shortcut created on the desktop has no "Start in" directory specified.

If you edit the shortcut to include the MMOUI directory in the "Start in" field it works fine.

if your on XP, right-click on the minion desktop icon and click properties, then were is says "Start In" past this "C:\Program Files\MMOUI Minion\"

restart the program and do the update.

[nag]

be nice if the updater would auto close after the update is done

Still has detection problems. "RollTracker Lite" is detected like "RollTracker".
