Ace updater

So I tried to download the Ace updater and for some reason I says it downloaded it , but whe I try to find it to run it is nowhere to be found on my computer, help

if its not in your interface folder then its bugged. happened to me aswell. I fixed it by downloading it manually and intalling it then reopen the updater to uninstall and reinstall again (to see that it can find and download it)
Optionally it might just be some of the settings you got that are wrong, the recommended setup that wowace.com offers is the best one i have used.

I've attempted to install the last few versions many times, but it crashes immediately so I'm still using v1.8 which is working perfectly well for the moment.

The latest versions are fully published within the .NET Framework 2.0, so it's not a classical application like we used to have. It does work just fine for me, and Seerah is right the only safe way to access it is to use the Start menu link (which really is an "Application Reference", not a "Shortcut").

Grissom: are you sure you have the .NET 2.0 Runtime installed properly?

OK so now that I can download it and find it. It tells me "dfsvc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" when I try to install it. Can I be that big of a moron?

Maybe something to do with admin rights on specific files/registry keys.

I have an issue with my updater where it says Error just as it loads then if I stat scrolling threw the list of mods it gives me a fatal error but I can ignore it and still use the program to finish updating my add ons.

I'd say remove the program, download the latest version (again just to be sure) from the official site and follow the little guide they provide as to how to set it up as best possible.

I had some small problems prior to trying out this method (mostly slow downloads and loads of useless downloads) but this fixed most of this. Only a few mods that from time to time won't download from some reason (but that was fixed by a trick of manually installing it and letting the WAU uninstall them and then download it again)

You can remove it via Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel.
