Beta 5:

on the unitframe a player was displayed as level 65.
on the nameplate, and tooltip he was level 70. He was in fact level 70.

Similar things have occurred with npc's.

I guess this is as good a time as any to voice another little gripe that's remained unchanged in the new build. The color of the mana bar, and the %'s for the mana bars, is a very dark shade of blue, and does not contrast well with a dark world background (bars) and a black outline (text %'s). Your new HUD seems to have improved on the contrast of the bars in relation to the world, but the mana text is still pretty dark, and harder to read than I'd like.

Barring any desire to change the default appearance of the HUD, could you give the users a way to change some or all of the colors in it? Bar fill color, text and text outline color, that sort of thing.

HUD issue

also i have noticed from time to time a purple line flashing in hud when i first tarted something, and earlier it was appearing and staying on when i had a corpse targetted. might only appear when right click the entity can remmeber for sure. but it is basically going up screen where the right part of hud has its arc terminal points.

Omen remark, when you ahve Omen open you can choose the 4 different Omen profiles (single, AoE, Healing and forgot the last one). I noticed that sometimes my preference was not sticking which would result in Omen not warning me of over agro but also not showing the bars.
Well... I'm not sure, but this may be an Omen issue. When you first log in nUI sets the physical screen location of Omen and sets its border and background color and then that's it. Never touch it again for the rest of the session. When you click the info panel selector button, all it does is change a state that toggles container frames on and off... so even when you show and hide the "Omen" panel, you're not really showing or hiding Omen, you're showing or hiding the panel it is connected to. So I'm not sure how or why nUI might be interferring with Omen in game play. I won't say it isn't, but I am highly doubtful.

I will report back once I get back home to play with rev 5

HUD usability feedback

would it be possible to get an alpha level setting for "In combat" and "Out of Combat". I've had this with most seperate HUD's and I must say that having to cycle through HUD or No HUD is somewhat back to the dark ages


PS If this means 4 more weeks of sleepless nights and no release this could be delayed.

Gonna do a new raid tonight so will give more feedback after that

I can't imagine how or why this would happen unless the frame isn't getting an update... does the nameplate contain the correct name for the player, just the wrong level? If you can find a way to reproduce it consistently, that would really help me sort out where that's coming from.

Elora -- I agree... and I do want to find a better shade of blue for that maximum mana. I've just been lazy about it while I've been working on the rest of the code. And, as a matter of record, there is now a global "Bar Colors" setting that has max, mid and min colors for Rage, Mana, Energy, Focus and Health that you will be able to adjust once I start saving your settings (which I'm not doing in Beta 2 yet so I don't have to keep "fixing" the things I change in the settings).

So... 1) I will pick a better color, and, 2) you will be able to adjust the color set to your liking soon.

That old feature will be back in the HUD today... I was just too tired to code it last night. No sleepless nights for that one. I'll e-mail you a copy when I've got it coded so you'll have it for tonight's raid.

I believe it was a frame update problem...

nameplate shows correct name/level, its unit frames that are showing the incorrect level.

I think its something to do with getting the debuff Drunken Haze

All the levels go down from 65-66, to 60-62...

Okay... then that would be Bliz modifying the level and not a bug. That's cool because I was really stumped at how I could be mis-reporting the player level unless it was the entire frame not updating.

hud issue

ok well i can't get it to do the line when targeting the corpse anymore but... so far every time i target something, kill it then target something new i am getting a quick flash of veritcal green bar that starts at bottom right arc terminus of hud (using player/target mode) and goes straight up to top of screen, but as soon as the arced border of hud appears, the vertical bar goes away and the border fills with green. can reproduce also if clear target and wait a min before selecting a new one. so far have not noticed any blue vertical bars associated with the mana arc only green one associated with health of target. and earlier a purple/pinkish one associated with health arc of corpse.

the vertical bar is only there a split second so have been unable to screen shot it.

Okay -- sounds to me like I'm blowing up a number in my calculation of the bar length. A dead corpse has 0 health, so there may be a divide by zero or something stupid like that I overlooked.

hud issue

can happen on any bar on hud ... noticed it now during combat when energy or mana bar gets to zero then regens some it glitches that bar for split second then is normal again.

k, turned out I was needed on my priest to heal a ZA. Although this meant I could not testdrive the new build on my main it did give me an oppertunity to test drive it from a healers perspective.

And I must say that should re-emphasis someone posted earlier that in order for the layout to be acceptable as a healer the health bars really need to be bigger and perhaps the whole layout needs some overhaul.

OK, in all honesty I come from a healbot healing perspective (without the caster part of healbot btw I just target through healbot and I decide which spell to cast). Furthermore, I think most healers would like to have a seperate table for the main tank(s) since these tend to have dedicated healers in raids.

For the cleansing part I think most healers use something like decursive/healbots notification/grid plugin to quickly see who has a debuf they can cleanse. With the current layout I have not found a way yet to do this easily. In all honesty I had healbot setup as a backup and I quickly switched to that since I could not get my head around the current frame layout as a healer.

Other (pref main healers) please step in with your comments since mine is not a main and therefor I only occasionally heal 25-man raids.

Tonight should be another normal raid for me so I will give you some feedback on the rev 5+ in raids from a dps perspective.


On a side note, today I did some dailies (somebody's gotta pay my repair bills) and I noticed that now and again when I have a second debuf on my target the icon of the original debuf does not properly render (Curse of Agony ticks and then after a few secs I start Drain Life, this results in DL becoming the top debuf and CoA de second, now sometimes this resulted in the frame of CoA to nicely appear on the second debuf position but the icon itself to not show).

BTW not had the Naaru biscuit issue again so guessing it was something else not nUI related.


All in all, I must say I am really falling more and more in love with nUI and it is slowly becoming my main UI component to build around. Seeing I always used to have minimalistic UI's this is a huge thing. It is just that I really want this UI to succeed in ironing these last few nuisances out so I can safely advertise it to all classes and players.
