Exclamation nUI Beta v4.17.00 has just been released...

Notwithstanding a critical bug fix or a WoW patch before nUI Beta 5 goes live, this will be the last update of Beta 4.

This update fixes a couple of layout issues with the new cooldown bar introduced in 4.15.00 Beta -- in particular issues with cooldown timers being offset from the icons and the cooldown icons overlapping the range indicator and player aura on the target in some display resolutions.

This update also rewrites the layout engine to provide for separate vertical and horizontal scales which means that the entire UI should layout correctly and square in all display resolutions now. (the minimap still is rectangular in some resolutions however.
As always, please report any bugs you come across at the official support site at http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=16845 if at all possible. Otherwise, bugs can be reported on any of the nUI comment boards or via direct e-mail to me at [email protected]

The current release is (or will be) available for download at any of the following locations...My continued thanks to everyone for their support!

How you can help support nUI's continued development: I am currently trying to recover from 14 months of unemployment and with over $20,000 in debt (unpaid mortgage payments, loans, etc.), every penny makes a serious difference. Your contribution of $5, $10, $20 or more to support the ongoing development of nUI would be greatly appreciated. Please visit https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...tton_id=681357 to make a donation now!

Lastly, please vote for nUI and add it to your favorites list... it helps nUI get more exposure. Thanks for your support!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 4.17.00 (Beta)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Fixed an error in the cooldown frame where the cooldown timers appeared horizontally
offset to the left of the cooldown icon

* Fixed an error in the cooldown frame where it was overlapping the range indicator
and/or the player's auras on the target

* Completely revamped the layout engine to allow for separate vertical and horizontal
axis scales... this addresses a layout issue with certain display resolutions where
the vertical axis was scaling incorrectly and causing the vertical elements to either
overlap or to stretch (note: I have yet to have figured out how to square the minimap
in this situation without breaking the mask... I'm working on that still)

You know... I almost knew it was a mistake to call it the last update when I wrote that.

Guess I'll just never learn

None of us ever do otherwise the world would be a very dull place!
edit: WOW! i cant believe what a difference that made the resizing just pushed the whole bottom section down almost two inches. That should make alot of the complaints about viewing space go away

Okay, i got the latest update, and the config.lua fix, Via E-mail... installed and all.. but your 'vertical fix' doesn't quite seem to... uhh... work.

It's in the attachment. The horizontal distance seems to work (i have my UI scale turned on to make it smaller.. but i tried turning it off to no effect) but the vertical size is outta wack.

1280x1024 res..

What display resolution are you playing in?

I tried every resolution I have and I could not recreate that massive vertical stretch.

That said, I do see that in non-widescreen formats the vertical scale is not squaring correctly. I guess there's going to have to be a 4.19 /sigh

Exclamation nUI Beta v4.19.00 has just been released...

This is a minor tweak mostly for the benefit of those who are not playing in a wide-screen display mode... it adjusts the vertical scaling to produce reasonably square buttons in all resolutions.

If anyone feels the need to go OCD and really really tweak the vertical scales to make the really really square buttons, please feel free to do so... the file in question is [ Interface > AddOns > nUI > Main > nUI.lua ] -- just look for the function function nUI:setScale() and it should be obvious where the tweak is.

The current release is (or will be) available for download at any of the following locations...My continued thanks to everyone for their support!

I have a very specific request for arena. As a mage I am tasked with focusing the healer and then either counterspelling or sheeping the healer at the appropriate time. What I need is a way to see within the HUD what my focus is casting so I can take defensive measures. My solution thus far has been to install quartz and place the casting and target bars over the top of the nUI bars and then set the focus casting bar where I like it in the HUD so I can see what that pesky healer is up to while I'm trying to burn down his teammate. Can a casting bar be added to the HUD for the focus along with debuffs if feasible?

I really need to create and level a druid so I can test them before I put out updates. I'll look into it the evening when I get home.

Okay... I've been playing with this and I cannot reproduce what you're showing. I borrowed my daughter's lowbie druid and as you can see in the screen shot, that layout is correct.

Looking at you screenie, it looks to me like both your shapeshift bar and main action bar are blown up and I pretty certain it's a third party mod that's doing it because the button sizes are just flat out wrong and nUI does accurately calculate their sizes so something has to be interfering.

I'm also curious what you have a location mod running at the top when the location is printed at the bottom? That's kind of overkill isn't it and adds load to the game engine.

In any event, it looks to me like a conflict issue and what I would like to suggest is that you follow the clean install track. From what I can see you have very few other mods installed (and active) other than nUI, so it shouldn't be a huge effort. Give this a go and let me know if it fixes the problem...

1) Exit WoW and rename WTF to WTF.Saved and rename Interface to Interface.saved

2) Without installing any mods, log into WoW on any of your toons and set up your video and audio preferences as you like them then exit WoW again.

3) Install the latest release of nUI into your Interface\AddOns directory and log back into WoW... does everything work correctly? (It should -- if not, let me know)

4) Begin installing the third party mods you would like to use one at a time (such as Omen3, Recount (Preservation), DBM, etc.) and test after each install to make sure everything is still working correctly. If something breaks the UI, you'll know which mod it was and we can look into why it broke.

Scott,

I think (although I could be wrong) the location guide at the top is TomTom, which I believe comes with Brian Kopps (the BK circle near the bags) leveling guide.

No idea if that helps you or not

Ok I did what you told me and I got lucky cause after a couple of addons I got the messed up buttons. I got them when I installed ButtonFacade. I don't have a clue why I have this addon or what it does, but I have an addon that says nUI_ButtonFacade so I figured I needed to have ButtonFacade there too.

The nUI_ButtonFascade plugin is written by Kodewulf -- I would suggest that you drop by the message board for that plugin and give him a holler... might be that something about my change in how I handle sizing buttons broke his plugin. (although I'm sure by the time you get there he will have read this post)

And, for the record, ButtonFascade lets you change the look of the buttons, make round buttons and things like that. You don't need it unless you want to use those features.

Do you have any chat mods installed? Odds are one of them is conflicting with nUI.

Exclamation nUI 5.0 progress update...

For those of you following the bouncing ball... I got 5.0 up and running tonight as in, it loads without throwing an error.

There's still a *lot* of work to be done before it's ready for e-mail, but at this point I have all of the layout data separated out from the code and it loads accurately reproducing the 4.19 layout. I still have to modify several sections of code to make the embedded references to art and icons part of the layout configuration and I still have quite a few modules that don't yet support skinning that I have to modify.

As soon as I can complete those items mentioned above, I'll be adding the 15 to 40 man raid panels and as soon as those are in place, I'll e-mail the first 5.0 alpha to nUI's supporter list so we can start stress testing the new layout engine as well as the new raid panels.I am still hopeful I can get that e-mail out before the end of this week.

While that is going on, I'll be adding the code to support creating an editable custom layout as well as the code for switching between multiple pre-defined layouts. I'll hold my tongue on plans after that as I don't want to get too far ahead of myself.

I'll post additional updates as I continue progress.

As always, thanks to everyone for their support.
