Patch 2.1 downloading..user updates?

OK.. we know that it might be a while before mazzle re-releases a Mazzle for 2.1,

My question is, who has sucessfully updated almost all componets....
and/or
Tested Mazzle on PTR?

there are alot of smart peoples here... if we can work out what isn't working... we can at least find a temp solution, or even a perm solution if Mazzle decides not to continue.

I see most of the addons are working for 2.1 (new versions)... i did read that quite a few people updated...

What do you mean 2.1 downloading? I was just on the PTR last night and judging from the fact that it was still up, the number of bugs still rampant, the number of items that still need upgrades, etc, it's still going to be at least a week or two before the patch comes. Just hold your horses.

Yes it is coming, check your Patches sub-folder:
WoW-2.0.12-to-2.1.0-enUS-Win-patch

BUT like usual for major patches Blizz sends most of the patch ahead of time to avoid major congestion on the release day. However you will not get the full patch until it is released (usually there is a last 1 to 2 meg chunk on release) and they can still make changes to the patch even if you received most of it.

Now back to updating your compilations

2.1 is loading as I speak. I'm sure we won't see till next week. Maybe Seerah should know whats going on before piping in like a know it all. So Seerah does Mazzle work in 2.1? I think that was the question. I for one have not tested it. Instead of waiting for a Mazzle update I changed my UI to PhotekUI X7 and added what other add-ons I enjoy useing. Now I do not have to worry about re-maziffy not working or having to disable my own add-ons for it to work. I really do love Mazzle but I am really sick of hearing about how he might not update or does not know when it will be. I am not here flameing anyone just not going to wait for an update to Mazzle that may or may not happen.

I admit, I don't run the background downloader. I get my patches from FilePlanet. The OP implied that 2.1 was installing - that's what loading means in my mind - anything else is downloading.

Anyway, that doesn't make my point any less valid. 2.1 isn't here yet and patience is a virtue. So don't attack me for saying it.

yes, your right, patience is a virtue... but in this case being proactive is also a virtue.
which i see from everyone "switching" as soon as there is a hickup, means you don't have the patience. I use it. I want to use it more. I want to spend MY time helping fix it. but I can't do yet, everyone wants mazzle this, mazzle that.
why can't we just "man up" and give him a hand? seperate the "mazzle" from the other addons... so we can upgrade (seprate config files?)...
it shouldn't be that difficult.... should it?

I really like useing Mazzle too but I dont want to be stuck when 2.1 comes out and have to use something else before an update comes out. As far as giving a hand I wouldn't have clue what to

. If it was updated regularly I'd definetly keep useing it but...

Hehe, I really don't care what you do Beam, but I did get a chuckle out of the fact that your solution to being stuck using something else is to go use something else. Whatever works for you, man. Good luck, take care and goodbye.

Yeah, I remember the big 2.0 patch started downloading weeks before it was released. Graphic assets are probably a large portion of a download that big. Given that they require less testing than game balance issues, it makes sense that they would be done with them first and would push them over to users early.

It was a disaster. I could not get Mazz to load, set up, work at all.

It would appear I will be back to square one.

Just to be clear -- this collection rocks. It's the pain of realizing I am going to have to live without it again soon til it gets updated that hurts.

Hm, strange, i tried also PTR 2.1 with updated mods and it works with only little faults in bugsack (chat etc.).

Mazzify works also.

If you read the FAQ, you can learn what AddOns to never update and which ones to update carefully and singly for testing.

For example, Mazzle had to re-write part of Bongos. Unless the Bongos author rolls in Mazzle changes, that Addon is not update-able. Likewise, be very careful about updating Ace-based addons (especially the libraries) without careful testing with a way to rollback your changes. (That is, backing up your Interface and WTF folders.)

Perhaps Mazzle may give up an updated version or a list of safe to update addons. Many I've updated work fine without even breaking the Mazzifier; others can be problematic.

Personally, other than dragging the racial abilities onto my bar and a very few key switches (Y for Flip camera, please!), I consider Mazzle currently "not broke".

I hope 2.1 doesn't behave too badly!

I have been a bit of a modaholic since i first discovered them about 2 years ago and I can definatley say that the Mazzleui is the best and most complete package I have yet to some across.

Anyway back on topic - whilst I have not been on the PTR so I cannot answer the OP question, what I can confirm is that if you use the WOWace update program and let it scan your system, then do a full update it works great and i get no bugsacks at all. The only small problem I had was with autobar so I downloaded toadkiller's version over at curse and voila it works great.

My friend that also uses Mazzle played on the ptr and said the only thing that did not work for him was Fubar. So I dont believe your interface will break but you might have to update some stuff.
Generally I update fubar, cartographer, things like that. I did update Ace and it broke the interface at the bottom so unless they have come out with another one since a few wks ago dont update it. Bongos has come out with a new release but as they said its prolly not compatable.
I certanly hope that the author does update this the day the patch goes live on the US, but people coming here complaining about it and saying I wouldt use it blah blah blah. Ok so you dont use it, so you wouldt use it, who cares, leave us alone the people that do use it and love it and troll some other forums. Plenty of whinning you can do on the wow forums.

MazzleUI...the parts I use at least...works fine on PTR.

Fubar, KTM, Mazzle, DUF, RaidFrames....the list goes on. ALL WORK.

Ok Mazzle worked -- I had to remove all the other mods I added....egg on my face

What I did was clean out my addon folder on test except for the Bliz's stuff. I then did a clean install of Mazz and it loaded just fine -- just means that I will have to slowly add in my other favs. I use a stripped version of Archud, and Deadly Boss Mods -- I turn off Mazz's hud.

I have a slew of other addons, somewhere is the real cuprit.

FYI - Tomorrow is the day. 2.1 live. (fingers crossed) Still hate the gnome, but love the UI. Customized it for me some and added a few extra addons, but this UI is sweet. Thanks again and ditch the gnome :P
