Idea for addons

My brother and I had an idea that I'd like some feedback on... Here Goes.

We were thinking of making a "SourceForge" like site for WoW addons (hosting files, managing versions, bug tracker, etc.), and have a updater client that users could download to automatically update / download any UI addon hosted on the site.

I dont know if this has been done, or if its even a good idea. Thats why im asking for some feedback.
