General Trouble with new DUI's

Hello,

I tried OpenRDX several months ago, but delete it again becuase I have not enough time to make my own UnitFrames. But with the new DUI's I would like to try again. Unfortunately I have several general problems and errors which I would like to describe instead of posting several StackTraces here.

If someone could give me a hint how to solve or which StackTraces you need, I will post it here, of course.

I tried two times exactly the description in "OpenRDX come back of the dummies link", but unsuccessful.

1) Renamed Addons and WTF
2) Copied all Blizzard-Addons to the new, empty Addons-Folder
3) Installed OpenRDX, Mediapack, Konyagi DUI, Persolite DUI etc... as required. No further Addons installed.
4) Disabled all Blizzard frames via OpenRDX.

Now, my problems:

1) Switching between both DUI's (Konyagi/Persolite) does not work very smooth. Most of all times nothing will be shown. Sometimes just a lot of grey/silver min-bars or parts of Graphics. Unmoveable and Unhideable. Reload UI cleans the screen, but must of all times I still see the Original Chatframe, during the time the DUI is not be shown.

2) Switching between Solo and Party (or others) is causing the same under 1)

3) Damage and ThreatMeters doesn't work. Initialization Error. There will be a green bar with a black title stating, there is an error. The UnitFrame can not be loaded. MediaPack is installed, for your info.

4) Minimap can not be shown. Error as well, in both, Konyagi and Persolite.

Haven't checked more functionality because of the heavy trouble.

I really like OpenRDX and I'm sure it must be something stupid from my side. But I have no clue, what

My Resolution ist 1280 x 1024 if this might be related to the minimap-thing because I believe it will be drawn out of screen-area.

Ah, Tried to Reset the Desktop and repositioned everything. Reloaded UI and it "crashed" again.

Any hints? Any requests for the error logs?

Thx a lot in advance,
Valcry

Hello,

I just did a complete install from scratch and everything work fine.

Which OS are you using ?
Client ? (fr or ru or other)
Are you sure you are using OpenRDX 7.4.1 ? (See the toc file on the addon RDX)

Any case, post your error stacktrace here after use the command /err

Hi Sigg,

OS is Windows XP, latest SP.
Client is DE (but languagepack instlalled)

Just deleted everything (including the the Blizzard-Addons) and Tried with my Level 1 Bankchar. Furthermore I downloaded the current Trunk with Tortoise in order to be sure, to get the really latest Version.

So. Started "First Time".
Activated all RDX-Modules (Ingame)
Deactivated all Blizzard-Frames (via OpenRDX).
Clicked on Persolite and got following Error-Message:

[string "-- ArtFrame: Persolite_DUI:minimap_af..."]:69: attempt to index global 'MiniMapCompassRing' (a nil value)

Stack trace:

Any Ideas? Maybe the solution of this could solve everything.

BTW, after disabling all Blizz-Frams the UI does reload, of course. But the Chatframe was still visible, if this might be interesting for you.

Thx,
Val

Edith says: Tried "Reset Desktop" resulting in a message "A desktop is already instaniated".

- Activated "Party" -> Desktop already Instantiated
- Re-Actived Solo -> Blue Frames are shown in the middle of the screen
- Repositioned Minimap
- Locked Desktop
- Minimap shown, but just an empty frame with the Region-Name (Localized)
- Last messages in Chat: "Minimap is not available or already aquired" and "Locking Desktop"
- All other Frames (Player, ActionBars) are okay
- Reload UI
- Everything vanished, except the original Blizzard-Chat (spawns again) with the a.m. error-message in Chat.

Seems a bit weird

there is a bug.

Go to the main option of blizzard and disable the rotation of the minimap.

I will provide a fix.

Thanks

Confirmed. Solved this matter. Quite interesting, such a small setting with such a big result

Buuut maybe you could take a further look at the minimap.
After everthing worked fine I switched to Party (guess, maybe raid) and now the Picture of the Minimap (not the frame) is show Fullsize on the screen, overlaying WoW (but not the RDX-Frames).

Deleted WTF again. Minimap rotation was still disabled. Installed again.
But the Minimap-Graphic is still in fullsize-mode.

Currently I'm not using the Window-mode, if this might be helpful.
And by the way, thank you indeed for the very very quick reply from above.
Will try some other options with the minimap.

Edith: Wait a minute. Just downloading an try this.

Edith2: No. Minimap-Graphic still Fulllsize. The RDX-Bar at the top of the sceen is vanished or behind the Graphic. So it's not possible for me to check position/size of the minimap-frame.

Tried with rotating map and non-rotation. Does not make any difference. Strange.

Of course

- Deleted WTF again
- Deleted OpenRDX-Folder in Addons (just to be sure)
- Copied 7.4.2
- Minimap-Rotation is off
- Result after activating Persolite DUI

http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/big/85t4-m.png

Play a bit with screenresolution, triple buffering etc. without changes.
But it does rotate correct while being fullsize ^^

I even could download a new trunk in order to avoid additional work for you with uploading a fix here, if you like.

Good Morning Sigg,

any news from your end, when you might find the time, to look at this matter again? Or anything for me I could try?

Sorry, didn't saw your reply earlier. Unfortunately, there is no error.

I suggest I will try the following tomorrow:

- Delete everything
- Try the 2nd last version without rotating minimap
- and maybe the last version
- and then this one again.
- maybe with a different char as well.

I guess, this is a local problem with this PC/Installation. No error, strange behaviour and nothing you can reproduce.

In RL I'm a programmer and therefore I know such subjects too good, unfortunately

If there would be more people with the same "bug" then there should be already more requests to fix this, after the last update.

i actually encountered the problem in the stack trace in post #3. It happened when I upgraded from OpenRDX-7.4.1 to OpenRDX-7.4.2.

When I deleted my RDX addons i also deleted mediapack by accident. Then when I installed OpenRDX-7.4.2, mediapack was no longer there.

It took me the better part of yesterday to realize my mistake, and I tried to delete and re-install RDX and FrigidUI multiple times.

I finally realized mediapack was missing and when i put it back in the addon folders that error went away.

I realize you said mediapack was installed, but perhaps something is being overlooked?

Downloaded 7.4.3 today. New to RDX but not usually flummoxed by addons.
Am having a heap of problems: very similar to the ones in the latest posts.
Followed the install instructions exactly, trying to open Konagi brings up three errors:

Interface\AddOns\RDX\ArtFrames\Obj_ButtonSkin.lua:499: attempt to index local 'mddata' (a nil value)

Stack trace:

Plus:

nterface\AddOns\RDX_mediapack\Builtin.lua:9: attempt to index global 'RDXEvents' (a nil value)

Stack trace:
-----------

Oddly blank. And:

Interface\AddOns\RDX_mediapack\RDX_mediapack.lua:142: attempt to index global 'RDXEvents' (a nil value)

Stack trace:
-----------

Also blank.

Noticed my error looks very similar to Valcry's....
I'm also getting the thing where just the chatbox stays on screen.
Tried /reloading and it just blanks everything. /reload again and chatbox comes back.
Have tried to load Fridgid and Konyagi and both have "opened" once: although the frames were tiny and pixellated/distorted and unmovable.

One thing I did notice was in the profile settings for Konyagi all the scale values and anchor points were the same... dunno if this means the manager isn't finding the right settings to load? no idea.

I've built my own custom UI using various mods in the past but really fancy a go at using RDX to start from scratch, hope this is fixable and I've not missed something like a jerk.

But like I say, my problems seem to be the same as those posted here pre-7.4.3....

Cheers,
Hal

Could you add this line

if not mddata then return; end

in the file RDX\ArtFrames\Obj_ButtonSkin.lua, at line 486

like this :

Code:
function RDXUI.ApplyButtonSkin(btn, mddata, backdrop, border, flash, normal, pushed, disabled, checked, highlight, autocastable, gloss)
if not mddata then return; end
if btn:GetObjectType() ~= "CheckButton" and btn:GetObjectType() ~= "Button" then return; end
	local offset = 0;
	if btn:GetFrameLevel() < 1 then offset = 1; end

Did you download the lastest RDX_Mediapack ?
