any ideas on how to add custom textures and sounds?

was wondering if there is an easy way to add your own custom textures and sounds using the winmpq tool. Changing the textures is easy but getting them back into the mpq file is where i need help.

Generally, you don't need to put them back in the mpq. If you edit Interface\Tooltip\UI-Tooltip-Background.blp for instance, once you've modified the image and put it back into blp form, create an Interface\Tooltip directory and stick the file there.

In fact the blizzard mpq extraction tool does just that. It extracts the interface.mpq into the Interface\* directories. (Which is a shock the first time you use it)

I'm not sure if this ability is going away or not. I know the FrameXML is going to be offlimits soon like the Glue is now. (Which is not a bad thing)

In fact it's even forbidden to put files into the original MPQ's.

Yeah, it's also against the EULA/rules to change ANY textures in-game.
