For a while there I was thinking of adapting the Oblivion UI for WoW. It's one of my all-time favorite game UIs.

Also to whoever mentioned the number of spells in Dragon Age Origins, the game offers a pretty good solution for this problem: the ability to set up tactics for all your party members so they cast spells automatically based on preset conditions. There's even a mod that allows the game character you're controlling to continue following them. It's like watching someone else play the game for you. I didn't use spells on my action bar even once.

PS: you do know that you can elongate the bottom bar so it streches across your entire screen, right?

Hey, been a while since I posted my UI.

Any comments and advice welcome. Still need to fix a couple of things, like Skada and quest tracker.

Sorry if this may seem a little rude, I'm a bit OCD with this stuff so don't take offense, this is constructive (I hope!)
  • Think it would look better if the Aggro color would be /between/ the two black borders if possible. (if you're using KG or LitePanels for your borders, make the middle of the two the aggro color and make the alpha 0 when threat is less then 100% or so. A nice little tutorial aid is in my sig)
  • Your threat meter (I beleve) needs to have somewhat the same skin as the rest of the UI.
  • The text for your player/target needs to be moved one pixel down the Y axis.
  • When I play my shaman, I don't believe I need to see my totem buffs on my party at all (saves room for more buffs)
  • For your totem bar, if you want it to be skinned with your BF skin, you might want to try using Yata instead of the default one. Looks nice
  • You might want to space the buff bars on your target 1 or 2 more, and raise it on the Y 1 or 2 pixels (that shadow is a little dark around the buff frames a lil spacing might make it have a better feel to it).
  • Your buffs in the top right and buffs/borders on everything else don't match.
  • And last but not least I think the bar that holds all your Data Text (under your bars) needs to have the height downed a little.

Please do not take this as offensively and try to remember this is what I would do if I was creating this UI and from my perspective <3 I actually like the look of this UI, just a few things I would personally tweak.

Yes. Needed more. ;D I played all 3 classes. The worst was certainly a mage, especially if you wanted more than 2 potions on your bar.




Here is a screen of my Golems of Amgarak DLC. I think I am level 36 or so there. There are several spells available to me that I don't even use that aren't even on the bars. There, I have my main direct damage spells, aoe and sort-of-DoTs, protective spells (throw enemies back/stun, etc), and then sustained and potions. I only have 3 spaces left lol. At least NWN 2 let you add more bars, in the same manner that WoW does.

Sort of back on topic of UIs, I once tried to make a Dragon Age UI by ripping art from screenshots, but it didn't turn out very well. I have no idea how to get the original source from the game files.

I really like the simplicity of the DAO UI. For those who don't play, the shadowy area with my character's name has the experience bar, and buffs/debuffs appear as small icons to the right of it. Buffs/debuffs for my party appear next to their portraits. I also quite liked the whole circle unitframe thing, it's a shame they went for a more traditional square bar setup for DA2.

Sorry about the DAO UI digression, back to WoW...

Actually, I think it might be, but that whole region of the room is all shadowy so you can't see the clear border space, as it also appears black. I think those borders are like those on Aurora, with the brown actually being a 1px transparent area where we are seeing the brown of the cave.

The only thing I find off about that UI is the placement of the threat meter. It seems misaligned vertically and I find it odd that it is right smack next to the action bars.

I also dislike the font, but there have been entire threads on font on these forums. It all boils down to personal preference and whether you can read the information.

I used to have Bartender, Pitbull and so on but nowadays I like to keep it simple.



Haha, I just concentrated on taking a good shot so I forgot to re-apply Blood Plague.

Visible addons: DebuffFilter, PhanxChat, OmniCC, class portrait script, Nice Damage, TipTop.

Non-visible: Align (handy for lining the UI), ArenaUnitFrames, EasyMail, Auctionator, TradeSkillMaster, IphiKickMachine, LoseControl, NecroticTrack, ReforgedTooltip

This is a good idea, I'm using Stuf for my UFs, and have edited it to add the borders from within it. I will have a play and see if I can get it to look like you suggested.

Sakurakira is correct in both parts, they are the same, and they are designed to look like Aurora

The placement of the unitframe cast bar is rather odd. Have you thought about having it be below the health/power bars, instead of between?

Btw, that is the nicest way I have ever seen of using a rounded texture.
