Where or When is the Saved Variables File written?

The mod I'm working on it's saving variables between session, but I can't find the saved variable file. According to the documentation I have, it must be in WTF\Account\[Account name]\SavedVariables\[mod name].lua, but it is not.

May be this changed with the recent patches?

Or it's saved per character:
WTF\Account\[Account name]\[server name]\[character name]\SavedVariables\[mod name].lua
