Here is a series of screen shots showing the countdown on Conflagrate & a list of my addons.

nUI v5.06.06 lite.

FYI, I never noticed the colours on the button numbers & timer changing, lol to much info for my tired old brain to process but all I'm actually interested in seeing is the time remaining till the spells next use, and as u can see the timer is starting at 6 sec when it has a 10 second cooldown & that the timer is being reset to 4 secs after it reaches 0 the first time, & yes now I see the colour change . Also, any other spell that uses a cooldown counts down correctly.

Okay...

There's no bug here. The button is behaving as it should. You're just not understanding what you're seeing.

The cooldowns have four states which are indicated by the color of the counter.

Purple means that the spell is both active on the target and on cooldown at the same time. The time shown is the amount of time remaining on the spell on the target, not the cooldown. As long as it's purple, it's on cooldown.

When the counter is blue, that means the spell is active on the target but not on cooldown. The time shown is how much time is remaining on the spell on the target.

When the counter is yellow, that means it is not active on the target, but it is on cooldown and the time shown is much cooldown time remains. The yello color means the time remaining is more than ten seconds.

When the counter is red, that means it is not active on the target but is on cooldown with less than ten seconds remaining.

So... let's revisit what you're seeing... when you first cast the spell, the counter is purple and shows 6 seconds remaining, that tells you that the spell is on cooldown and that it is active on the target with six seconds remaining before it fades. As long as it's purple, you can't cast it again.

However, the cooldown on the spell is longer than the duration of the spell. So, when the 6 second "active" period is complete, the timer switches from "how much longer the spell is active on the target" to "how much cooldown time remains" and the color switches from purple to red because there's only 4 more seconds remaining on cooldown (less than ten seconds)

What's the benefit of all this "extra" info?

1) the purple color tells you the spell didn't miss, it's active on the target and you can't recast it yet. If I didn't show you the spell was active on the target, then you may well overlook the fact that it missed.

The answer to that is that "I don't care if this spell misses" - fair enough, but I can't program the cooldowns to work differently for every spell... that would be insane and way too much overhead. Other spells it does matter to know it missed so you can recast it (curse of agony, corruption, etc.)

2) Again keeping with the theme of knowing a spell is active and how much time remains being important, some times other spells benefit from a spell being active on the target. Knowing how much longer it's active is more important than knowing how much actual cooldown time remains -- especially when the cooldown is longer than the duration of the spell (hunter stings come to mine)

So, if the only thing you care about is whether or not the spell is on cooldown, then the change from purple to blue is your cue that it is off cooldown and can be cast again if in fact the cooldown is shorter than the duration. Conversely, if the cooldown is longer than the duration, then it's generally more important to know how much longer the spell will be active than how much longer until the cooldown is done... the switch from purple to yellow or red is your cue that the spell expired and cooldown is nearly complete.

All of that said, if having the amount of time a spell is going to be active on the target annoys you, then you can just use the slash command to turn it off.

Oops, on seeing those screenshots I realise my description here is wrong, rofl.

The buttons will first show the debuff timer so will show the 6 seconds, but seeing as the cooldown is longer the count down will change to 4 in a different color to denote that you still have a cooldown. That is how your screen is showing it and looks right to me.

If the cooldowns are all you are looking for then you should be able to disable the bar durations using the slash command /nui bar durations. Give that a whirl and see if that eases your use of the timers.

Just curious scott would it be possible for the counter to show the cooldown first IF the it is longer than the debuff? Hence he cast's spell cooldown is 10 sec's so it shows 10 in purple then when it passes the 6 sec debuff at 4 sec's it changes to red to show the debuff dropped and spell is still on cooldown. I think that might clear up a little of the confusion some people are having.

True, I didn't understand the colour coding so I had no clue as to what I was seeing. After your explination, I now can relate the colours to where the timer is at & can plan accordingly.


The answer to that is that "I don't care if this spell misses" - fair enough, but I can't program the cooldowns to work differently for every spell... that would be insane and way too much overhead.
We wouldn't want you to go insane, .... well, at least untill after you finish v6

All of that said, if having the amount of time a spell is going to be active on the target annoys you, then you can just use the slash command to turn it off.
I wasn't annoyed in the least, just totally confused as I didn't understand what I was seeing or why it was showing the cooldown as it was.

Your detailed post was greatly appriciated & reflects the "LOVE" you have for nUI & all us n00b users. Thanks so much for the info.
