Option Box

Anyone know how to make a dynamic option box? I've seen it done before. If you go to the advanced search option on the forums you'll see what I'm talking about.

The only way I've seen it done is by making a scrolling message box and filling it with buttons that inherit a template that makes them not show the regular button image, and are highlighted on mouseover. However, I need mine to be dynamic, and I cannot figure out how to add more of the buttons when I need them.
