Constant disconnecting.

Last week I hearthed to Dalaran and I got disconnected. Upon trying to login again, it takes double to time to load, and I D/C after 5-10 seconds.

I deleted my WTF folder and that worked, but I spent 3 hours re-configuring my UI.

About 2 hours ago, after getting out of heroic Utgarde Keep i hearthed to Dalaran. I tried a repair (while replacing the WTF) but it didnt work.

Is there any way to stop disconnecting without spending 3-4 hours on my UI again? And possibly having it happen again?

Thanks

Just taking a wild guess....

... Updating Questhelper (or deactivating it) would be a start.

Maybe a list of your current addons could give us an idea...like skeet shooting with our eyes closed.

You could also try to rule out that there is nothing else going on with your connection. Try the following and paste your trace route (be sure to begin the trace route as soon as you get disconnected. In other words, have it typed out at the command prompt, wait to see if you get disconnected, put game on taskbar, hit enter to begin trace).

Log into the game.
Log into one of your characters and wait a few moments.
Drop game to taskbar.
Go to run, type cmd.
Type netstat at the command prompt.
In the list you'll see something similar to (only with real numbers) xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:3724
Look at all the numbers and ignore the 3724 on the end
Type this (add the real numbers instead of my x's):

tracert xxx.xx.xxx.xx >C:\tracert.txt

There is a space after the word tracert and before the first number, there is another space between the last number and the > symbol. No other spaces. Hit enter. Give it a moment to complete, and then open the text file (located in the root directory of your C drive) and copy/paste the contents here.

Not sure if this will help you much.....
But in my guild on Shadowsong, we have a lot of people this happens to. We tried trouble shooting with them, but in many cases they share no same add-ons...and their individual computers were vastly different in set up, ability etc. (my hubby is smarticle with that stuff and helped work that end :P )
After hours spent on alts, vent, and on the phone, we could only come up with turning any tracking add-ons off when in Dalaran (like Cartographer, guild trackers, quest trackers, gathering add-ons etc.) and turning visual effects down as low as you can....that seemed to work every time.
!EXCEPT! on heavy server load days...in those cases nothing worked except waiting till the server population went down.
Its not much advice I'm afraid, but it did seem to help....Hope it helps you get around Laglaran.
<.< I mean Dalaran.

Wow. You're my hero

Thats weird...

I'll just have to see if I magically crash once entering Dalaran again.

Edit: Nope! I just get moderate lag. But Mozilla with 6 tabs open probably contributes to that.
Thanks!

The trace doesn't look too bad, with the exception of a small hiccup on hop 15. It's certainly not enough to cause you to disconnect. Hop 17 is where you hit the game server... it's normal to timeout after that hop because you hit the servers firewall.

The best troubleshooting technique for your issue, unfortunately, is to delete the Cache folder and move the Interface and WTF folders to your desktop. This gives you a fresh vanilla UI for testing purposes. Install 5 addons at a time and go play. If you don't get knocked offline, try adding 5 more. Keep doing this until you get disconnected. After that, try removing 1 from the last set of 5 addons (being absolutely sure to remove it's lua and lua.bac files from the WTF folder).

You'll end up narrowing it down to one addon. I'm very curious as to which one might be causing the issue.

Edit: just saw your last post... now to find out which addon that has tracking is causing the issue... so close to finding out which one it is!
