Saving user input in between games [im a newbie]

Hey.
As the title mentions I am new to LUA.

I got this idea that it would be nice to see/set a note for each quest you currently have in game. To do this i need to save the text entered in the note. How do i do this?

Beside the main question i would appreciate suggestions as to how i each note binds to each quest.
