action on both press and release of a button

i assume that this would be something that has to be done through the lua scripts, and not simple warcraft calls....

i am looking for a way to trigger different actions when you press a button down, and when you release the same button. If anyone has any information on this, or knows where i can find it, i would appreciate your assistance. I remember playing around with this about 1.5 years ago..... i can not locate the information i used then, and i am assuming that this is still possible.
